User Manual and Tutorial

For KeyScrambler Personal, Professional, and Premium

I. KeyScrambler Components

  1. Overlay Window
  2. It is the KeyScrambler interface on your screen, where you see live encryption of your keystrokes.  When you are not typing, in four seconds it will disappear from the screen.

On the right edge of the Overlay Window are two buttons: Options Button (Click it to bring up the Options Dialog), and Positions Button (Click it to change the position of Overlay window on your screen).

  3. Options Dialog
  4. The tabs -- General, Display, Advanced, About -- give you options for running KeyScrambler on your computers and info about KeyScrambler's default settings.

In "General," "Enable KeyScrambler Protection" is checked by default.  Unselecting it will turn the program off.

Likewise, "Start KeyScrambler When Windows Starts" is checked by default.  Unselecting it means KeyScrambler will not start automatically when you turn on your computer.

In "Advanced," all of the options are checked by default.  Unselecting any will discontinue that particular function.

"Protect Windows Logon" is for the Premium version only.  "Distinguish Unencrypted Keys" warns you when your keystrokes are not protected by KeyScrambler in cases of you using a virtual keyboard or other software-generated keys.  You can uncheck "Support East Asian Language Input" if you do not need protection for Chinese, Korean or Japanese input.

  5. Tray Icon
  6. It is the little KeyScrambler icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.  Double-clicking the tray icon will turn KeyScrambler on or off.

The Tray Icon changes color to indicate what state KeyScrambler is in.  It is GREEN when KeyScrambler is active and you are typing in a protected app.  YELLOW when KeyScrambler is inactive or when you are NOT in a protected app.  RED when KeyScrambler is off.

  7. Tray Icon Menu
  8. Right-clicking the Tray Icon will bring up a short menu, which provides a shortcut for you to control running KeyScrambler on your computer.
